I hope you all had a great weekend-it was certainly better weather than the previous one.
Firstly, my sincere apologies for the delay in getting meals to several members. A bit of a communication breakdown-I did not realise I had to contact the Cosmopolitan Club to advise we were attending so when they did not hear from us, they were not ready for the 29 members that attended. I have confirmed we will be attending this week so there will not be the same issue.
On dinners-a thought. If you are looking for a meal apart from carvery, it might be a good idea to order the meal when you arrive at the club and ask for it to be ready for 6pm-hopefully this will speed things up as far as getting dinners out to members.
Thanks to Andrew and Kelvin for their presentation about the progress on the Xmas Parade. What a mission to get all of the requirements sorted but hopefully all the paperwork will be ticked off and the best ever Xmas parade will take place.
A good round of committee meetings were held and judging by the time they ended, some good discussions must have taken place.
We have a very interesting guest speaker this week-Danielle Bergin from Island Child Charitable Trust-I have supplied a bio for you to read.
See you all Wednesday
Best wishes,
Mike

This week’s guest speaker
CEO Danielle Bergin founded Island Child Charitable Trust-the original aim was to provide medical aid to families in the Pacific, hence the name. In 2008 Danielle established an organisational base in Tāmaki. Her own experiences of homelessness led her to reach out to homeless Māori and Pacific whānau.
Over the next decade, Island Child developed a hardworking team, organisational infrastructure, wide-ranging networks, and funding relationships to support an evolving 12-week residential programme. Earning Child, Youth and Family Services accreditation status led to government contracts.
In 2018 they purchased and began renovating three neighbouring properties, with support from a variety of agencies and were able to triple their transitional housing capacity.
Since then, they have partnered with Tāmaki Regeneration Company to increase transitional housing service delivery in Tāmaki. They now manage a TRC transportable housing village at Tripoli Road in Panmure.
