Donna is collecting the cans for donation to Papakura Marae Foodbank and Salvation Army Foodbank.
Please bring to Rotary on Thursday, or drop them off to Donna.
Right now, Aotearoa is navigating a cost-of-living crisis that hits close to home. With over 20% of our population requiring weekly food assistance, our local food banks are under more pressure than ever before.
Rotary Clubs across New Zealand are uniting for a massive, nationwide mission: Cans for a Cause. From 9th to 16th June, we are aiming to collect one million items—roughly one for every person currently facing food poverty in our country.
As part of Rotary’s commitment to Community Economic Development, Rotary Papakura is participating in this campaign. We aren't just looking to fill boxes; we are looking to strengthen the local support systems that our neighbors rely on every day.
This is more than just a food drive; it’s about community resilience.
Every single tin of peaches or box of pasta donated represents a meal for a family right here in our backyard.

How You Can Get Involved
We are calling on local businesses, schools, and retirement villages to join us as collection points. Whether you can donate a single can or organize a drive at your workplace, every bit of momentum counts.
We are specifically looking for high-impact, non-perishable items:
- Protein: Canned fish, meats, or beans.
- Basics: Rice, pasta, and cereals.
- Vitamins: Canned vegetables and fruits.
- Comfort: Soups, spreads, and diced tomatoes.
Where Does the Food Go?
Rotary Papakura is partnering directly with local food banks and community marae. By leveraging our local networks, we ensure that every donation is distributed effectively to the whānau who need it most, ensuring zero waste and maximum impact.
To make a donation contact us at papakurarotary@gmail.com or members can bring to our meeting.
