Changeover

Changeover is always a much anticipated event in the Rotary calendar, with this year being no exception. Saturday evening saw 70 guests come together at LaValla Estate in Tuakau, to celebrate the impact Papakura Rotary has made in the community over past year and to welcome in 2019/2020 President Grant Matheson.

A day in the life of Lily ....lunch with Tana

Our lucky Lily had lunch with Tana, his wife Rochelle, youngest daughter Anise along with Anne and Niamh at Butterfly Creek last week.  Tana had just flown back from Wellington after the Blues Game and took time out of his busy schedule to spend some time with Lily. They had a great lunch and chat about France and the All Blacks and had an all round fun afternoon.

Thanks Anne for arranging the meeting, Lily said it was a very, very  "cool" afternoon and  was certainly a giant tick off her Bucket list!
ROTA Pacific comes to Papakura

Peter and Bernie spent the day on Wednesday at Hobbiton with the delegates

Papakura has had the pleasure of hosting this years ROTA Pacific Tour delegates in the week prior to RYLA. The delegates Tabtiha Berg (Rarotonga) and Porani Tapari-Pin (Tahiti) staying with Donna and David, Veronica Reddy (Fiji) and Priya Chand (Fiji) staying with Warren and Jackie  and Seforan Fatiaki (Fiji) and Shrivneel Kirpal (Fiji) staying with Tracey and Jon, have had a full on first few days and all the while trying to adjust to the climate! In the first 3 days they have managed to fit in two Rotary meetings, a Vocational morning, Laser Tag with the RYE students, a trip to Hobbiton, and 8 km walk, a visit to Hamilton Gardens and getting all their gear sorted for RYLA!  A huge thank you to Peter Wilcock who has worked tirelessly to co-ordinate with other clubs and put together a week that has given the delegates experiences they will never forget!

Please Give Blood

Many of you have asked if there is anything you can do for Grant and Sonia. Yes, there is and it may not be the first thing you think of ... Grant has asked if you could please donate blood if you can. Only 4 percent of Kiwis who are eligible to donate blood do so and the NZ Blood Service is desperate for more donors.

Discours d'adieu de Lily

On Thursday night we had a great Farewell speech from Lily. Lots of laughter and tears.
Everyone sang an early Happy Birthday to Lily for her turning 18 in July.

A big thank you to Lynn Mills for the amazing cake.

KNITTING WOOL REQUIRED

Please check your cupboards for any spare knitting wool that you would be happy to give so Lois McKay and her team can knit garments for needy babies and children.  We would like 3 and 4 Ply, and double knitting wool (8 ply).  Pure wool and acrylic yarns and all colours are useful, even small amounts as these can be incorporated into booties, hats etc.

Please bring them to our meetings and give to Donna.

Roger That!
Make no little plans; they have no magic to stir one’s blood and probably themselves will not be realised.
