From the President's Desk

Hello fellow Rotarians,
So this is it, my last week as President and what a year it has been!

I want to say a massive thank you to the whole club for the great support and help I have received over the last 12 Months. It really was a lot of fun, mixed in with some hard work which is often the best combination. Leading Papakura Rotary and working alongside you has been an honour and I am grateful I was given the opportunity. As a Club we have done ourselves proud and I believe we have had a substantial impact on our wider community.
Changeover registration is now closed for this Saturday. Remember this is a formal evening and a chance to flash it up a bit and based on last year will be good fun!
Tracey and I cannot be there for Lily’s speech on Thursday which is very sad as she has just been a fantastic exchange student. Please get behind her and come along to see her off. She did a great job at farewell of thanking her host families and the club. Not a dry eye in the house. You will be missed Lily!
See you all on Saturday night,
Rotary National Science & Technology Forum - Update
The 30th Rotary National Science and Technology Forum - Update
Lovely feedback from 1 of the 2 students who attended this forum in January.
Liam Nelson - Papakura High School
Just emailing as sadly the forum has come to an end, a forum that was probably the best 2 weeks of my life and I just want to thank you and the Papakura Rotary Club for all your support and for giving me the opportunity to attend such an amazing event. The forum was quite frankly everything I expected and so much more.
Thanks so much once again.
Meeting 28th February 2019
Meeting will be held at the Netball Stadium, Bruce Pulman Park, Walters Road.
Enter through Gate A on Walters Road, drive for about 200m, turn right onto sealed car parking area.  Entrance is on the northern side of the large building.   Go up the stairs to the meeting room.
Meet at 6pm for 6.30pm dinner.  Unfortunately the meal cost quoted was not GST inclusive and the cost is actually $41.40 pp.  This will be charged to you through your club account.  If you have indicated that you are attending and fail to turn up, you will still be charged.
There will be a cash bar operating from 6-7pm.

Bruce and Jessie Pulman will be attending and after the meeting we will have a guided tour of the facilities.
RYPEN 2019
The Rotary Youth Program of Enrichment (RYPEN) is a Youth Leadership over a weekend long camp for Year 12 and 13 students, aged between 14 - 17 years old, designed at developing young people’s potential through a mixture of lecture style sessions and adventure-based learning.
This year’s RYPEN Camp will be held at our very own Kakako Lodge at the Hunua Falls Over the weekend of 29, 30 & 31st March 2019
This year’s event is largely being organised and run by young people for young people in so far as RYLARIANS and Rotoractors are working under the able direction of Ainie Kwok from the St Johns Rotary Club and supported by the District Youth Committee!
We are hoping that our Grant Matheson May take up the role of Camp Dad alongside the very experienced Camp Mum Hillary Prior, but Sonia would also be a most welcome helper.
We are also looking for about six helpers to assist in the clean-up process on the Sunday so please contact Peter Wilcock if you can help?
Thanks to all in advance, Cheers George
