DG Gary Langford Official Visit

On Thursday night we hosted the District Governor Gary Langford and his wife Jan.
Thank you Gary for the presentation on your vision and plans for the District, the future of Rotary and what our club can do to help.
Paul Harris Fellow
The presentation of Paul Harris Fellow recognition is The Rotary Foundation's way of expressing its appreciation for a substantial contribution to its humanitarian and educational programs. It is named for our founder, Paul Harris, a Chicago lawyer who started Rotary International with three business associates in 1905.
On Thursday night we had the honour and pleasure of recognising Brian Shove and Bruce Hart as they were each awarded a Paul Harris Fellow in appreciation for their substantial contribution to the many Rotary programs.
Please accept our congratulations and sincere thanks to you both Brian and Bruce, for your commitment to our common goals of world understanding and peace.

RYLA 2020 - Update

As you will all hopefully know, Papakura Rotary along with the Drury and Manurewa-Takanini Rotary Clubs are the clubs who will be organizing and running RYLA 2020-the dates are from June 27th until July 4th and the event is held mainly at Willow Park Camp in Eastern Beach. RYLA is a leadership camp for 20-28 year olds who listen to guest speakers, engage in leadership activities, have an outdoor experience and engage in a community day to very briefly outline the event.
RYLA itself is a large event, so large that it has two operational arms-the district committee and then the 3 clubs charged with running the event. Our club’s role is to organize the day to day running of RYLA over the 8 days of the event.
To give you an idea of what support we require from club members, I will outline some requirements
Santa Parade 8th December 2019

Santa Claus is coming
Sunday afternoon 8th December
All leave is cancelled
The Parade starts at 3pm. Streets will be closed from 1pm and the Parade floats will assemble early afternoon.
The Club will provide BBQ and soft freeze ice creams to the public again after the success of last year.  No balloons this time though.
The Business Association are planning to run an event following-on from the Parade with bands and entertainment in Central Park.
This is a key event for the Club in show-casing the activities of Rotary to the public so member’s support for assigned roles or general duties is appreciated.
Thank you,
Community Committee.
