From the President's Desk

Hello fellow Rotarians,

So this is it, my last week as President and what a year it has been!

I want to say a massive thank you to the whole club for the great support and help I have received over the last 12 Months. It really was a lot of fun, mixed in with some hard work which is often the best combination. Leading Papakura Rotary and working alongside you has been an honour and I am grateful I was given the opportunity. As a Club we have done ourselves proud and I believe we have had a substantial impact on our wider community.

Changeover registration is now closed for this Saturday. Remember this is a formal evening and a chance to flash it up a bit and based on last year will be good fun!

Tracey and I cannot be there for Lily’s speech on Thursday which is very sad as she has just been a fantastic exchange student. Please get behind her and come along to see her off. She did a great job at farewell of thanking her host families and the club. Not a dry eye in the house. You will be missed Lily!

See you all on Saturday night,

Cheers,
Jon
Lily takes on the Challenge...

Lily, along with her fellow Inbounds students of both D9920 and D991, spent last week at Challenge camp.  Definitely out of her comfort zone but she rose to the challenge, gave service above self and thoroughly enjoyed her week! The week-long camp provides an environment that will physically, intellectually and emotionally challenge young people who may not otherwise have the opportunity to attend such a camp. It is a wonderful experience for our RYE students and often one of the highlights of their exchange. In typical Lily words "It was so cool"!

LETS (Leadership Elect Training)

Team Papakura showed up in style for LETS.

Tracey Faber (Bulletin co-editor), President Elect Grant, Steve Budd ( incoming Treasurer) and Lisa van den Brink (incoming Fellowship Director) spent Sunday getting ready for the year ahead. There were some thought provoking sessions around club flexibility, membership, goal setting, projects, and publicity that has our Club leaders looking  to create lasting change.
Welcome to new members Mike and Sue

On Thursday night we inducted Mike and Sue Williamson into our club. We delighted to have these two experienced Rotarians to join our club.
Congratulations and Welcome Mike and Sue.

A Call for Curtains

The Rotary Club of Parnell has been asked by Habitat for Humanity for assistance sourcing curtains for its Curtain Bank.

The Curtain Bank urgently needs 2 500 curtains for 200 families living in substandard accommodation. The curtains are needed as soon as possible because most of the windows in their homes are unlined and with winter on us, they are cold and unhealthy.
