From the President's Desk

Well fellow Members, this week will mark 2 full months at the helm and I have really enjoyed it so far. It is so great to have welcomed five new members onboard this year  and I am really looking forward to working with them.
Anne did a fantastic presentation on Thursday and for those that missed it check the photo further on for a small taste!!!! It was bloody awesome. Anne, you are a rockstar!
This week the meal options will be two different types of meat with the Carvery. The RSA has promised to keep improving on the salad and vegetable options too, so I agreed to trial this for a few weeks and see how we go. Dessert for everyone this week!
I think I need to mention what a great attendance we have been having with consistent numbers over 30. To me this shows we are getting something right on Thursdays so keep it up.
Have a great week.
A bit about us - Directors

As a new year kicks off, it is always good to get the lay of the land. So who are our 2018/2019 Board of Directors and what makes them tick? Take a look and you might just find out something you didn't already know.
RYE Inbound - Lily  - France

In the wee hours (4am!) of Wednesday morning, our Club will welcome our Rotary Youth Exchange Student for the year -  Lily  from France. If you are up and about or survive on very little sleep, it would be great to see you out at the Airport to see her in.

District Corner

At the Rotary International Convention in Toronto the top districts for 'Per Capita Giving' to PolioPlus were honoured on the stage. District 9920 received acknowledgement for being the fourth largest contributing district to Polio giving at $461.86 per District Member average. DGE Ingrid Waugh was on stage to receive this acknowledgement for the District.

Roger That!

Member Roger Goldstone share's his best 'picks' from the latest Rotary Magazines.
Following my trips to hospital it has taken a while to get going again. However, I must say the Rotary Down Under over the last few months has not enthused me as much as previously, not for the average Kiwi Rotarian. Having said that “The Klinginsmith” articles always makes good reading and I would suggest that the challenges in the June issue do give food for thought. We may not always agree in change but worth reading.
The other part worth a read is in connection with the Australia New Zealand Rotary Conference. This is in Hobart, Tasmania and for those that have not been to Tassie, it would be a wonderful opportunity to see an area of Australia that is well worth the visit for some time out.
