2018-2019

From the President's Desk

Hello fellow Rotarians and other readers,

Well this will be the last bulletin for 2018!

Firstly, thank you all for giving me the support you have over the last 6 months. You have all made my job so much easier than it could have otherwise been and it is greatly appreciated! We have had another outstanding fundraiser, some great fellowship events, worked hard at making a real difference to our community with numerous projects  and made a really good effort at increasing our profile and sharing our stories. I am proud of what we have achieved as a club and looking forward to the second half of my Presidential year.

We have the Choral Society coming on Thursday to sing Christmas Carols as a 'Thank You' for us getting their Piano repaired, so make sure you come along. It would be really nice to have partners join us too as we get in the Christmas spirit.

I  really enjoyed listening to the Education Trust scholarship recipients speeches, hearing how their first year had gone and from those about to embark on their first year in tertiary education in 2019.  I look forward to it each year and still believe this is one of our best nights of the year.

So that’s a wrap on 2018. Tracey and I wish you all a Merry Christmas and a fantastic New Year.

Quote of the week;
“Service is the rent we pay for a living. It is the very purpose of life, and not something you do in your spare time.”  Marian Wright Edelman

Till next Year,
Cheers
Jon.

President Jon Faber and Malcolm Anderson, winner of Classic Bike of the Year, Best in Show and the People's Choice Award

And that's a wrap! Our Club's annual fundraiser, The New Zealand Motorcycle Show, reached new highs in it's 6th year and was an outstanding event delivered to the Community despite the decidedly average weather!

Argentina, here I come!

President Jon and Tracey's 17 year old daughter Cassidy has 58 days until she leaves for her one year Rotary Youth exchange to Cordoba, Argentina. She joined us last Thursday to tell us about where she will be spending her year. She will be hosted by Rotary Club Monserratt Cordoba in the heart of the city. She will be the only New Zealand Rotary Exchange student in Argentina (D9920 is the only district currently exchanging with Argentina) and we are sure she will be a great ambassador! We wish her all the very best and look forward to reading her monthly report!
