From the President's Desk

Hello fellow Rotarians,
So last week we had the Club Assembly for those of you that missed the meeting.

It feels like we are on the right track after going through the goals and Strategic Plan from the last few years, which is promising for the future.
It has been a very busy weekend for me, managed to remove another 38 possums on Friday night then headed to the beach on Saturday morning on the bikes. Saturday night I found myself at the Blues Chiefs in a corporate box and then finished the weekend at LETS (leadership Elect Training) on Sunday. Tough life but someone has to do it.
Great to hear we have our RYLA spots filled thanks to Martin and Warren Mills too.

Quote of the week;
(I read this last week while looking for quotes for RYLA and liked it.)
“The future needs passionate, happy, and confident young leaders willing to challenge the status quo and stand up for their convictions.” Richard Branson

See you all on Thursday,
Levi Turner Speaks on UN Youth Leadership Tour

Levi Turner, a 2nd year conjoint Law and Arts student speaks to us on Thursday on his recent North America Leadership Tour for which he received sponsorship towards, from our club. He is one the top 14 students from NZ Universities  who was selected to take part in the Harvard National Model United Nations. The delegation also visited 6 cities, met more than 30 prominent non-governmental and political organisations, and the United Nations Headquarters.  Come along and support this wonderful young man as he shares the highlights of this incredible experience.
President's Backyard BBQ  6 April 2019 @5.30pm
Looking forward to seeing you all on Saturday!
It will be an easy clean up paper plates, plastic cutlery and plastic 'glass' type of affair so if the glass makes a difference to how much you enjoy your wine, it might be best that you bring the real thing from home!
RYDA update

Papakura continues to be active in District Committees with Peter Wilcock and George Wilson both serving on the RYDA Committee and of course the very useful support of the Budget that Directors set aside in our Club Trust for assisting this wonderful Programme.
Rotary Youth Exchange Information Evenings

Let 2020 be the year you take the leap to a new country.

Experience the culture first hand with several host families. Meet new friends, learn a new language, grow and develop – all with the support of Rotary. This is a life changing opportunity, so come and see what it’s all about!

At our information evening you’ll hear from the organising committee, past exchange students and from overseas students currently here on exchange.

Have your questions answered and hear all about a Rotary exchange, its benefits, how it works, and how to fit it around school and university.

Just one last Information Evening left - this Thursday 28 March @ Remuera Golf Club 7.30pm

Applications close on 30 April 2019 for departure the following January of 2020.
