From the President's Desk

Hello fellow Rotarians,
This week at the meeting we had DG Ingrid Waugh visit the Club to present George Wilson with a trophy for his generosity to the Rotary Foundation and recognise his hard work in Rotary. You are a true inspiration George and we are certainly very lucky to have you as a member of our club.
It was nice to hear from Ingrid that our club and the work we do is getting noticed and talked about at District level.  I am certainly proud of what we have achieved and the impact our club has on our local community.
I had my cousin Richard and his wife Yvon over from Holland visiting this week (who is also a Rotarian) and he really enjoyed our relaxed manor and the humour of the evening. He remarked that he wished his club had more of that. They were quite taken with the fine system and were still laughing about getting fined for not wearing shorts! Again, I could not help but feel proud of us and the projects we do. Richard left our meeting inspired and really impressed at what a small club (in Dutch terms) full of passionate rotarians can achieve.
See you all on Thursday
Hamper Help

It is your last chance to bring something to add to the Hamper this week before we draw the raffle next week.  Malcolm is the 'Raffle guy' and will gratefully accept your donation.
A date with Lily

Our RYE Student Lily has finished school for the year and is at a loose end until she heads away tp her South Island Trip on the 17 November.  It would be a wonderful chance for Lily to get the opportunity to get to know some of our members a little better - after all what makes our programme superior to others is they chance that these young people get to spend with Rotarians.
2018 Papakura Christmas Parade

Ho, Ho, Ho  it is just 6 days to go until the 2018 Papakura Christmas Parade!
Sunday 2 December
It will be all hands on deck this Sunday as we do Rotary Papakura proud and bring this wonderful Event to the community of Papakura! See you there!
Christmas Puddings - get your order in
Rotary Christmas Puddings are back. The time-honoured recipe is the same, the bakers are the same and they are still vacuum packed for long life and superb freshness but this year in a heat proof bowl.
Papakura High School Charitable Trust

On Wednesday 30th October Roger Goldstone and I met with Rosalie Freeman, a foundation Trustee of the newly formed Papakura High School Charitable Trust. The object of the meeting was to gain an understanding of their goals and aspirations and to try to link them with our own Papakura  Rotary desires to assist our Community. We were presented with a really informative Brochure which really spells out the background of each of the four trustees and illustrates their linkage to the School and story behind the trigger that set them on this journey.
