Fellowship Dinner - January 2020
We had a great club fellowship dinner together on the 23rd January at Urban Soul in Karaka. Lots of chat and laughs about the summer hoildays.
Rotary National Science and Technology Forum - 2020
President Grant, Catherine Armstrong and Roger Goldstone
Last Thursday evenings speaker was Papakura High Student, Catherine Armstrong who attended the 2020 Science and Technology forum in January. She shared with us her experience and thoughts of the two week programme. She thoroughly enjoyed her time and was able to compare Universities and programmes offered in her preferred field of study, giving her a clearer idea of where and what she intends to study at tertiary level. Her enthusiasm and enjoyment of her time at the forum was obvious and she expressed genuine gratitude on her selection and sponsorship.  We wish her well!

Cassidy Faber is the face of this new campaign - nice work Cassidy.
Through Rotary’s service projects, peace fellowships, and scholarships, our members are taking action to address the underlying causes of conflict, including poverty, inequality, ethnic tension, lack of access to education, and unequal distribution of resources.
Rotary initiatives range from the very local through the projects of individual clubs through to strategic global partnerships with long-term focus. It is said we “wage peace” and you are invited to join us in a way that suits what is important to you. There will be posts over the next few days touching on some of Rotary’s peace initiatives. Peacebuilding and Conflict Prevention / Resolution is one of Rotary's Areas of Focus.
Classic Bike Festival 2020
Thank you to all the members for helping at the Classic Bike Festival
Graham and Warren would like to thank all the club members who helped out at the Classic Bike Festival.
The club has been asked back for next year so our efforts have been appreciated.
The weather was good and the attendees all seemed to enjoy their time there.
Thanks very much again,
Warren and Graham
A Big Thank You
A big thank you to all the members who supported the Afghanistan refugee family. The family was so grateful for all the support they have received from our club members.
District Conference 2020
The Conference is a special time with a carefully crafted programme that will inspire and entertain you.  During this time you will connect with old and new friends and meet people in the community who are making a difference in the world.
The conference will be held in the magnificent Sir Owen G Glenn Building at the University of Auckland Business School in Auckland CBD and has superb facilities for our conference including plentiful underground parking.
There is an exciting pre-Conference programme whether on the harbour, on the golf course, exploring Auckland or relaxing on Waiheke Island.
Join us for the Conference - you are in for a wonderful time.

Halfway around the world in 36 days

On 2 June 2019, Lee Harman and Bill Ward set off from the Great Wall of China outside Beijing. Their destination, the Place Vendôme in Paris, lay 9,779 bumpy, muddy, dusty miles away. Their vehicle: a car built before either of them was born. This was Day 1 of the Peking to Paris Motor Challenge, also known as P2P, a classic car rally that re-creates a 1907 race famed as one of the first automobile endurance events.
