Below is the link that Jennie Herring talked about at Rotary.
October is Polio month with World Polio Day occurring on 24 October 2019.  This is an opportunity for all clubs to raise awareness and funds for the End Polio programme.
Districts 9920/9910 have decided to repeat last year's event called Polio All Trains (PAT) on the Auckland Transport Network. This year we have returned Bigger, Better and hopefully better with 3 ferry companies participating.
Over $200,000 was raised last year for End Polio with the Bill & Melinda Grates Foundation multiplier 2:1.
The concept is that a team (dressed in red End Polio apparel) will ride 40 stations on the Auckland Transport (AT) Train Network and 12 Ferry terminals. At each station or terminal visited there will be a local Rotary Club (also dressed in red End Polio apparel in "a sea of red") who will symbolically hand over a cheque for the End Polio Campaign to the Polio Team riding the trains.  You may have a fake ‘big cheque’ to use for this occasion.
The photo opportunity will be actioned either at the station/platform or terminal but if there is not enough time, the club members will join the train or ferry to have the photo opportunity on board and ride for a couple of stations or from one terminal to another – then return via train or ferry to their base station.
Actual funds for polio should be deposited into your district’s appropriate Rotary Foundation account by 31 October 2020 with the reference of [club name] and code [PAT23Oct].
AT have given permission for us to undertake this event and to collect donations from passengers travelling on the trains and at the stations
It is anticipated we will not only raise awareness of the End Polio Campaign but it is also an opportunity for local clubs to promote Rotary and invite interested people to join or engage with their club and there is great FUN & FELLOWSHIP.
The project team will work with clubs on allocation of stations or ferry terminals.  Some stations and terminals have been identified for more substantial information stands and require people throughout the event’s duration.
This event will happen on Friday 23 October 2020 and commence at approximately 8am until 6pm for train riders and 6am to 830pm for ferry riders. This is a brief overview of the event with more detail to come and on this link https://youtu.be/hP7bu253uFA
