Last week we started the New Rotary Year with a bang, with three RYDA Presentation Days taking place involving Papakura Rotary support.
Monday 1st July was a Programme for Otahuhu College with approximately 180 Students attending and whilst the Otahuhu Rotary supplied five Rotarian Volunteers and the $1000.00 Rotary Contribution, Papakura club, with support on the day from Peter Wilcock, Warren Megget and George Wilson also covered the $1,000.00 contribution for the buses for transportation to and from the venue at the Du Drop Events Center at Manukau.
This was a big day with some challenges but overall seen as a first for Otahuhu College.
Wednesday 3rd July was for year 11 Students from Alfriston College with a large group of nearly 200 attendees and sponsored by the Manurewa Takanini Rotary Club with students making their own way to the Bruce Pulman Park venue. Murray Brown from Manurewa / Takanini attended - others couldn’t make it due to their Book Fair commitments, so George, Donna, David, Barry & Bernie from Papakura club took up the challenge with Phillip from Drury also stepping forward to assist. The students were extremely well behaved and polite and really enjoyed the day.
Thursday 4th July. Year 12 students from Alfriston College pored through the doors and 160 students again enjoyed the day this time supported with funding of $1,000.00 from the Papakura Rotary Trust Fund and the volunteers from Papakura Club were George, Warren, Roger, Peter and Ian with the trusty Phillip from the Drury Club. Very well behaved and polite students and a credit to their school enjoyed the day and gained a huge amount from the well-presented event.
