It is with tremendous excitement and pride that the Rotary Club of Papakura announces the induction of its newest member, Peter Dodd. Peter was formally welcomed into the Rotary family on November 13th, in a ceremony conducted by President Kathryn.

This is a significant milestone for our club, as Peter is our first new member in many years. His joining is a powerful testament to the value and impact of Rotary service in our community, and we are thrilled to be growing again.

Peter was sponsored by the ever-committed George Wilson, who introduced Peter with heartfelt remarks about his character and dedication to service.

Meet Peter Dodd

Peter comes to the club with a genuine commitment to community service and the principles of Rotary.

Peter Dodd's story is deeply rooted in the soil of Papakura, a community he has called home for most of his years. His professional journey began in Civil Engineering at the Manukau City Council, where he quickly progressed through the fields of surveying and design, acquiring the specialized knowledge that would define his career. Building on this foundation, Peter and his partner Trixie took the entrepreneurial step of establishing their own Civil Engineering Consultancy in Papakura. For 27 years, they ran the successful firm together, navigating the complexities of their industry before Peter finally stepped into a well-deserved retirement this past September.

Yet, Peter’s impact stretches far beyond blueprints and design specifications. His commitment to community support is extraordinary, most evident in his role teaching Gymnastics, a service he maintained for an astonishing 51 years. He was also a dedicated leader in local governance and business, serving six years as President of the Drury Community Committee. He then led the local business scene for 12 years as President of the Papakura Town Centre Association—an organization now known as the Papakura Business Association. Outside of his professional and civic duties, Peter has a singular passion: high-performance vehicles. He channeled this enthusiasm by serving 12 years as President of the Corvette Club, solidifying his reputation as a committed "car nut."

Peter brings a wealth of professional experience and a dedicated personal history of community involvement to the club. We know that his values align perfectly with Rotary’s mission, and we are eager to have him join our ranks in serving Papakura.

Looking Forward

President Kathryn concluded the evening by thanking Peter for taking this vital step, presenting him with his Rotary pin and welcoming him warmly to the team.

We encourage all members to take a moment to introduce yourselves to Peter at our next meeting. Please join us in extending the warmest possible Papakura Rotary welcome to Peter Dodd!
