We came together last Thursday to celebrate some stars in our Community. These are people who go out of their way to make a difference in other people's lives and clearly share our belief of 'Service above Self'.

The awards were given to Nicky Weir for the work she does at Selwyn Oaks to get the elderly out of their homes and mixing with other people, Bronca Fox for her service to provide breakfast to school children in low decile schools, Bruce and Jesse Pulman for their dedication and extreme generousity to the local community of Papakura, Glen Green for his drive and passion to change the lives of youth through his programme 'There's a Better Way'.

We had several people who were unable to attend the night, but were worthy recipients all the same. Mr Lala for his commitment to the ERK Programme through supplies, and to three local businesses who made a significant difference to our 2018 Water Restoration Project in Tonga to Harvey O'Laughlin (Taylor Facia) who provided 1400 m of guttering and related material at a heavily discounted price, David Gellataly (Roofing Industries) for 4 tonnes of roofing iron at no cost and Warren Oliver (Franklin Longrun Roofing) for 400m of heavily discounted box section guttering.

It was fitting that it was "National Volunteer Week" and it was a wonderful way to finish President Bruce Hart's year. Again, thank you all for the wonderful things you do!
