The Rotary Club of Papakura’s Dictionary in Schools tour continued its momentum on Friday, May 1st, with a high-energy visit to Kereru Park Campus.

If anyone ever wonders if physical books still hold sway in a digital world, they only needed to look at the Year 4 cohort last Friday. The atmosphere was electric, but the real "magic" happened the moment the students sat back down.

First Impressions Count

While the assembly moved into its next phase, the dictionaries were already being put to work. One of the most heartening sights of the morning was capturing two young girls who couldn't wait another second; they were immediately hunched over a shared page, enthusiastically scanning the columns and sharing their discoveries while the awards continued around them.

A Celebration of Achievement

The dictionary presentation was part of a wider, lively assembly that celebrated the very best of the school’s spirit. Following the distribution, the teachers presented awards for student achievement. It was a privilege for Rotary to be part of an event that so clearly values and rewards the hard work of these pupils.

The morning ended on a literal high note, with a school-wide dance that left everyone—teachers and kids alike—in high spirits.

Thanks also to the Bill and Lorna Boyd Charitable Trust for making this possible.
