Stewart Purvis was President in 1983-1984. This year the long running Country Carnival was transferred from Clevedon to Karaka. The change was initiated to assist the Karaka Community with their fund raising for their new sports complex. Profits were shared equally.
New instruments were presented to the Papakura Music School and this assistance is acknowledged by the school continuing to present an annual performance to the club by the senior orchestra. Financial assistance was given to the Papakura High School for the building of their sports pavilion. The Club hosted the District Assembly at Rosehill College.
