Papakura's Edmund Hillary School  hosted a Sri Chinmoy Oneness-Home Peace Run event on Friday the 27th of July. Two Peace Run teams ran (including Rotarian Ainie Kwok from St Johns Club) carried torches from Clevedon in the east and from Clarks Beach in the west, and converged at Edmund Hillary School school at 10 am.

The Sri Chinmoy Oneness-Home Peace Run is a global relay seeking to inspire the creation of a more peaceful world. As a symbol of peace and harmony, runners carry a flaming torch, passing it from hand to hand, heart to heart. The motto of the Peace Run is "Peace Begins With Me!" – stressing the importance of how each individual can make a positive contribution to creating a happier and more peaceful world.

"Lasting peace must begin within the depths of the individual, and from there spread in ever-widening circles as a dynamic force for world change." – Sri Chinmoy

There the children had the chance to express their views on peace through different activities such as skits, interviews and songs. Redhill School and Edmund Hillary School are both part of Kootuitui ki Papakura and combined to send a team of students to run the last 3km into Edmund Hillary School with the Peace Run teams.

Warren Megget went along and certainly felt it was a worthwhile event and would encourage our Club to be in support of any future events. r

Many thanks to Warren for representing the club,
