Rotary Youth Driver Awareness [RYDA]
Ryda is a partnership which supports teachers on the journey as they provide their students with the tools and understanding they need to see themselves as active, responsible road citizens. Taking, largely, a student inquiry learning approach, Road Safety Education becomes part of the school culture from the first to last day of a young person’s high school life. Beyond that, Ryda provides students with the tools, habits and motivation to take action and stay safe on our roads as both drivers and passengers throughout their lives.

We have had an active week out South with Youth Activities with RYDA taking the biggest time slot .
Wed 7th at the Onewhero Rugby Club with Onewhero Area School's fifty-five Students and although only a two-group series of six sessions the attention and interest from those attending made it really worthwhile for Peter Wilcock and George Wilson. The importance of the RYDA message is never lost on these Country Kids as their driving challenges are greater than those in the City.
Thurs. 8th at Pukekohe was supported entirely by Pukekohe Rotary and around 100 students in four groups enjoyed a new venue at the Franklin Baptist Church and with a fine day they reported great participation and interaction. We delivered the cones for the Stopping Distance trials.
Frid 9th at Waiuku College was a dreadful wet day but as only one activity was outdoors so all was not lost and over 100 students managed to endure the weather to take in the programme in the School Hall and some Classrooms ,however it would be my recommendation to move away from the holding RYDA at the School even if we need to help with the transport from our Trust fund.
